About the NGO

The people and the mission behind Eye Sea Gallery.

This website is an initiative by the non-governmental organisation “Eye Sea” — a non-profit founded in Kyiv in 2023. We exist for a simple reason: to make Ukrainian culture and contemporary art visible, and the artists behind it heard — in Ukraine and far beyond.

The organisation grew up alongside Eye Sea Gallery — a contemporary gallery and ceramics studio in the heart of Kyiv. The more exhibitions, masterclasses and artist talks we ran, the clearer it became that this work is about more than showing art: it is about education, community, and making sure artists have both a reason and a way to keep creating. The NGO is how we made that mission official.

“Non-profit” here is not just a legal label. It is a promise about where the money goes: everything the organisation earns is reinvested into exhibitions, educational projects and support for artists — not distributed as profit.

01

What we do

Our charter puts it formally: popularising Ukrainian culture and contemporary art, and promoting Ukrainian artists in Ukraine and abroad. In practice, it looks like this:

Exhibitions & events

We organise and support cultural and artistic events — exhibitions, lectures, workshops and educational programmes that bring art closer to people.

Championing Ukrainian artists

We promote Ukrainian artists at home and abroad — introducing their work to new audiences, institutions and collectors.

Caring for culture

We contribute to the development of cultural heritage and support creativity in all its forms — from established practices to bold experiments.

Connecting people

We provide a place where artists, cultural organisations, the public and state institutions can meet, talk and start projects together.

02

Why it matters

Culture is one of the things Ukraine is fighting for — and one of the things it is fighting with. Exhibitions that open despite everything, masterclasses that fill up, artists who keep working: each of these is a statement that life and creativity continue.

We pay special attention to emerging artists. A first exhibition, meeting a curator, learning how the art world works — these steps are hard anywhere, and harder still in a country at war. We try to make them easier: with space, advice, connections and honest feedback.

And we think beyond today. Cultural heritage is not only museums and monuments; it is also what is being made right now. By supporting contemporary artists, we are adding to the heritage future generations will inherit.

03

How we work

A few principles shape everything the organisation does:

Open to the world

We take part in international exhibitions, fairs and symposia, and build partnerships beyond Ukraine's borders.

Better together

We happily join forces with unions, associations and other organisations that share our values.

Rooted in Kyiv, reaching further

We are based in Kyiv, but we can open branches and run projects across Ukraine and abroad — and we intend to make the most of that.

Want to collaborate, support a project, or simply learn more about what we do? Write to us — we're always happy to meet people who care about Ukrainian art.
